In this issue:
Welcome back to all of you who are returning for another great year in our Wolf Cub Pack! And for those of you who are joining us for the first time at the 3rd Goderich Cub Pack, welcome! Within this welcoming newsletter, you will find important information with regards to how our Pack operates, what is expected of you as Wolf Cubs, and info on our weekend event schedule for this year… including our first day trip & Fall camp! So take a look and read carefully. If you have any questions, or comments, don’t hesitate to ask any of your leaders!

7. Fall Cub Camp.
8. Parent Help / Leadership opportunities.
9. Fundraising.

1.1 Our Pack now has a Blog. On it, you will find photos & write-ups about our various events. You will also be able to find all correspondence to parents & youth, including any last minute details, so pleas check regularly! It’s at: 3rdGoderichScouts@blogger.com
1.2 Cub meetings on Monday evenings. They will start at 1900 hours (700 PM), and will run to 2030 hours (830 PM).
1.3 From time to time, all or part of a Monday night meeting will be spent OUTSIDE the church. It is important that each Cub arrives DRESSED FOR THE WEATHER and be prepared to be out in the elements. The leaders will not always phone a reminder to the Cubs about this. Any Cub not dressed for the weather will remain inside and miss the activity.
1.4 Scouts Canada is a uniformed organization. As such, FULL UNIFORM must be worn to all meetings and to other events (camps, public events, etc.). Full uniform includes: Scout shirt, group necker, sash, blue pants, gym shoes (when at the church) and your Wolf Cub Handbook.
1.5 A Cub may earn as many badges as s/he wants (and we encourage you to earn lots of them!). We will give them to you when you can tell us what badge you’ve earned & have all previous badges received sewn onto your sash or uniform shirt.
2. Transportation Policy: Scouts Canada has decided that the transportation of the youth to and from all events is their parents/guardians responsibility. What this means here at Third Goderich is that unless the group is coordinating bulk transportation as part of an event (i.e. school bus), then parents are responsible to make sure their youth have a ride to and from each Cub activity, including camps. Certain options are open to you, such as contacting other parents and arranging car-pooling opportunities. A Pack phone list will be drawn up and sent home with your youth by the third Pack meeting to assist in this regard.
3. Calendar of Events: Here at Third Goderich we have been planning forward into he future to ensure some cool, exciting and educational opportunities for all members of our group. In an effort to ensure that you are aware of the when and where of these events, we have decided to give you a list of these events well in advance. Please take a look at the attached calendar for dates, locations. For some of the events, further information can be found below.
4. Point Clark Lighthouse: On Saturday, September 15th, at 1000 hours we will be meeting at the lighthouse for a tour & visit. Bring a bag lunch for after the tour. Parents and siblings are welcome to join us for this trip. See attachments for directions.
5. Investing New Cubs: We plan to invest all our Beavers who swam up at the Spring Canoe camp on Monday, September 24. Please try to have your full uniform by then if you can, parents please join us at 2000 hours for the ceremony, and feel free to bring your cameras!
6. Corn Maze: On Saturday, October 13th we will be heading to a corn maze for a fun family day outing. All sections are invited as well as all family members. More details will follow, but like last year, we will have a hot lunch after the maze, so mark this one down on the calendar!
7. Fall Cub Camp: This year our first camp will be held at the Group camp over by Auburn on the weekend of October 26 to 28. Our theme is First Aid & Transportation. Details of cost, packing list & directions will follow closer to the date of the camp.
8. Parent Help / Leadership Opportunities: This year in Cubs we have two leaders and at least 9 youth. Therefore, we need some parents to come alongside and help out at meetings or camps. This will enable the Pack to have great programming and the adult supervision necessary to keep everyone safe. It will also help when for one reason or another a leader cannot make it to a meeting or event. So on Monday’s, we are looking for parents to commit to helping out just one meeting a month. Additionally, during events like our Fall camp, we are looking for someone who is willing to coordinate the kitchen for us. If you’re interested, please let either of us know, thanks!
9. Fundraising: 3rd Goderich does only two fundraising events during the year: the Hot dog booth at the craft show in the summer, and Apple Day. During these two events we raise money for all the activities & camps we go to. This also enables the youth and leaders to focus on great programming throughout the year. As such, we strongly encourage all youth to mark these two events on their calendar and participate in them. Thanks! That being said, when we have the date of Apple Day in October confirmed, we’ll let you know!
